Our Story
Mountaintop Acres sits on 150 acres of old-growth woodland in Gaines Township, a quiet corner of north-central Pennsylvania where the cell service is spotty and the coffee tastes better for it.
We built two cabins — no more, no less — because we believe a retreat should feel personal, not industrial. Each one is positioned to catch the morning light through the canopy and frame the kind of view that makes you set your phone down and actually look at it.
Whether you're here for a weekend to reset, a week to write, or a month to disappear — the property is yours. The trails, the creek, the fire pit under the stars. No schedules. No crowds. Just the mountains, as they've always been.

Accommodations
Cabin One
Sleeps up to
4 guests
Our original cabin, wrapped in eastern white cedar and positioned along the northern ridge. Features a stone fireplace, chef's kitchen, and a deck that faces west — perfect for watching the light change over the valley.
Cabin Two
Sleeps up to
6 guests
Perched above the creek on the southern boundary, Pine Cabin offers more space and a different rhythm. The great room opens to a wraparound porch, and the master suite faces east — sunrise without leaving the bed.
What Awaits You
Miles of unmaintained woodland paths through hardwood and hemlock. No marked routes — just you and the terrain.
A seasonal creek runs along the southern edge of the property. Cool water, smooth stones, and the kind of silence that only happens away from roads.
No streetlights. No neighbor's security flood. Just the Milky Way, visible from the fire pit on clear nights.
Check in on your own schedule with our keyless entry. We respect your time and your privacy equally.
Fresh eggs, local honey, and coffee from nearby roasters waiting in your cabin when you arrive. Because the best mornings start right.
Dingman's Ferry, Milford, and Smithfield are all within 30 minutes — grocery stores, restaurants, and real hospitals if you need them.

Getting Here
About 2 hours from NYC, 1.5 from Philly. Take I-80 East to PA Turnpike North (I-476), then Route 611 toward Milford. Shin Hollow Road is a quiet country route — GPS works fine, but put your phone away once you turn off.
We don't do last-minute bookings often, but we always make room for someone who needs it.
